Vitalik is a dad! Vitalik donated 10 million Thai baht to 'Bouncing Pig' Moo Deng, using ETH as a hippo dad.

Ethereum (Ethereum) co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently announced a donation of up to 10 million baht to Thailand's Khao Kheow Open Zoo to support animal conservation projects and expand exhibition facilities. The donation is specially named after the zoo's star, the pygmy hippopotamus 'Moo Deng,' to express friendship and gratitude to Thailand and its people.

He praised the zoo's commitment to animal welfare, education, and community engagement, and expressed excitement for future facility upgrades, especially the proposed improvements to the habitat of the Pygmy Hippopotamus.

He mentioned that the donation is aimed at further supporting the operation of the zoo and promoting the happiness and health of 'Bouncing Pig' Moo Deng and his family and companions.

Ethereum Community Sends Greetings to the Thai People

Vitalik recalled the Ethereum community's activities in Thailand over the past few months, especially the 'Devcon SEA' event held in Bangkok in November. He remarked that the success of these events could not have been achieved without the warmth and support of the Thai people, and he expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the entire Ethereum ecosystem.

He wrote, "On behalf of the entire Ethereum community, I would like to express our gratitude and friendship to Thailand, and choose to pay tribute in a special way - to the beloved 'Bouncing Pig' Moo Deng, an unexpected global celebrity."

Donations will primarily be used for the operation of the zoo, sponsorship programs for wildlife, and building a dedicated exhibit area for the 'Bouncing Pig' Moo Deng and his family. He emphasized that this donation is unconditional and allows the zoo to flexibly use the funds according to their needs.

Vitalik concluded the letter by expressing his hope for the healthy growth of 'Moo Deng,' the bouncing pig, and his aspiration to promote the collective prosperity of zoos, the Thai community, and the global Ethereum family. He wrote, 'I look forward to seeing Moo Deng thrive and witness the vibrant development of our extended family and community.'
